On Wednesday, May 14th, the IEEE Student Branch University of Ioannina | Arta had the honor to co-organize the event "An Afternoon full of Technology, Education & Awareness", at the 2nd Esperino EPAL of Ioannina.
The event was the result of a fruitful collaboration between the IEEE Student Branch University of Ioannina | Arta, the Human-Computer Interaction Lab (HCI Lab) of the University of Ioannina, the Center for Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality of Epirus Region (KEEPI), Kids Save Lives and the school itself.
More than 20 volunteers from all teams worked intensively to design and implement interactive stations and workshops, offering visitors a multi-dimensional experience around technology, innovation and social responsibility.
Public participation exceeded all expectations, with over 300 people attending and interacting with technologies such as Virtual Reality, eye/hand tracking, AI applications, and VR first aid training scenarios.
Among others, the Vice Rector of the University of Ioannina, Ms. Kanti, the Dean of the Department of Informatics & Telecommunications and Director of HCI Lab, Mr. Tzallas, as well as representatives of the Municipality of Ioannina and the Region of Epirus were present.
As IEEE SB UoI | Arta, we are proud to have actively contributed to such a multi-dimensional action that combines technology with social awareness and educational experience. We thank everyone who stood by our side.
We stay active, we stay creative. Technology is power when it serves people.
