International Day of Women and Girls in Science
On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated every year on February 11, the IEEE Student Branch University of Ioannina | Arta joins its voice with the international community, highlighting the importance of equal participation of women and girls in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
This day, established by the United Nations, reminds us that scientific progress and innovation require diversity, equal opportunities, and the utilization of all talents. Despite significant progress in recent years, women remain underrepresented in many scientific and technological fields.
In this context, we reaffirm our commitment to:
We encourage girls to participate in STEM education and research activities.
We create inclusive environments for learning and innovation.
We promote role models of female scientists who inspire the younger generation.
We support initiatives that promote equality in education and research.
Strengthening the presence of women in science is not only a matter of equality, but also a key factor in sustainable development, social progress, and technological advancement.
By putting up this poster, we are sending a clear message:
Science needs women. Girls belong in science.
